Study Abroad in Brazil

In our two-and-a-half-week study abroad program we examine the ways in which Brazil’s historical background has contributed to its rich regional diversity of culture, and how literature can provide a coherent point of entry for a broader aesthetic of tropical places, the Amazon in particular.  Students spend these two and a half weeks in places such as Recife, Fernando de Noronha, Salvador, Iguassu Falls, Manaus, Belem, and Marajo Island. Boat trips on the Amazon River are one of the highlights. Students also experience life in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, highly populated urban environments, in contrast to some of the least populated areas on Earth.

(Next trip: Summer 2019)
