Portuguese class
  • Portuguese fulfills the language requirement of four semesters or equivalent at the College of Charleston.
  • Our Portuguese classes are small, allowing for special attention to each student.
  • In the sequence Portuguese 101 202, you will acquire the four basic skills for communication: reading, writing, speaking and listening, and we introduce you the culture of Brazil and the other Lusophone countries.
  • The College of Charleston also offers you the opportunity to study abroad in Brazil with our partner university or other universities.
  • Intensive travel study abroad programs are offered as well without language requirement.
  • Portuguese at the CofC is a vibrant program with a varied number of cocurricular activities spread during each semester.

The Portuguese Program and the Portuguese Club events include: Feijoada (typical Brazilian dinner), Concert of Brazilian music, Samba lessons, Bate-Papo! (conversation table), Films, Cooking classes, Lectures, Game nights, Soccer in the Square, Capoeira  lessons.  Events vary according to the semester.
